Hey guys new to the form but not new to forums in general.

I'll be making a video talking about and testing supercruise and it's features and functions.

Going through the checklist and making a script and was wondering if you guys had any questions that you'd like to see answered in a video.

Little background, I got a very small YouTube channel and just took delivery of the 2022 bolt eUV premiere with supercruise.

I already have about 2,000 mi of super Cruise testing and took a lot of notes so far but was looking to see feedback from people that had certain questions especially those that are interested in getting it but have questions about how it works or it's limitations.

Just let me know what kind of questions you have and I'll try to include them if I didn't already in the video when it comes out!

How does it handle traffic when everything suddenly comes to a stop on the interstate? Find a construction area along a known mapped road. Does it disable? How aggressive does it accelerate/decelerate if someone pulls into your lane (or a slow-moving car moves over). How smooth are accelerations and decelerations overall? How long, in seconds, does it let you glance away before it corrects you and then once it warns you, how long to disengage? How well does it handle very BIG exit ramps where your lane marker becomes a giant Y? If you are traveling a long stretch of road and the speed limit changes, does it know and slow down and/or speed up?. There's a few for you...

Very good excellent question! I'll definitely note these and document it for the video! I appreciate it so much!

Thanks for that. I subscribed and checked out some of your videos. Nice content. I'm not that much of a tech so that's the first time I have ever seen a mining rig. The question that comes to my mind is how much is electricity there? We've got it pretty good here, in SW Washington state. I pay 7.63¢ KWh. I have read that some miners have been attracted to set up here because of that.

I'm looking forward to your EUV testing video. Judging by what I see on your channel is should be great.

I'm trying to keep this thread pretty sterile only related to the bolt EUV SC.

But I'm definitely willing to talk more about that on a different platform or at a later time.

While there can be a fine line between promoting content and commercial solicitation, we have generally been ok with links to external content provided they don't compete with the forum. Often, external sources contain valuable information of interest here on the forum, so we try to allow when reasonable. There are many here with blogs and YT channels, so you are not alone.

How easy is it to defeat the monitoring. Try this:

I would say I'm conflicted on whether this would work or not as there is definitely an eye focus component to the sensor. I have MS and glare at night kills me, I've learned to focus to the right when looking ahead with a car with extremely bright/misaligned headlights is blinding me and then using my peripheral vision.. Supercruise detects almost immediately when my eyes change to focusing to the right even if my head doesn't move and will disengage in the same manner as if I had turned my head completely to the side. I did a 600+ mile round trip on Sunday using Supercruise for a good majority of it and planned to write up my own thoughts on it soon.

Any discussion of SuperCruise probably involves Adaptive Cruise Control and Regenerative Braking.

On SuperCruise, I have only had my EUV for two months and did a 280 mile trip with SuperCruise...

  • people changing lanes or merging... the response of ACC is slow
  • lanes that widen or narrow or on and off ramps seem to confuse it
  • on a two or three lane highway, which is the optimum lane to be in?
  • what is going on with the brake lights when you are driving, do other drivers know what you are doing?
  • how do you disengage SuperCruise without all sorts of bells warning you?
  • how long does it take for you to feel comfortable not having your hands on the wheel? Where should they be?
  • what technology does SuperCruise use? More to the point, what devices do you need to clean or keep clean before you head out?

Hey there, thank you for the excellent questions and the good formatting it's really appreciated! You definitely got to clean all the cameras. However I'm trying to figure out how the radar system works. Definitely write this one down as well thank you!

To be honest right now I haven't done any testing like covering up cameras yet. However it seems the cameras on the mirrors, and the cameras under the glass on the windshield are very important.

Did you ever get around to making your video and addressing some of these questions? I'm really interested in supercruise and heavy traffic. I make an almost 40 mile commute each way 3 times a week. I can go two different routes but both are mapped highway routes. Sections of it are bumper to bumper stop and go for about 1/4 to 1/3 of the total drive but I could, in both cases, get in the center lane and stay there with only 2 interchanges along the way until I exit the freeway. With the constant stop/go, I'm curious how bad it gets when people pull in/out of the lane in front of you. My wife's car has ACC and it scares me, lol. It brakes pretty hard and accelerates like in hot pursuit when people pull in front or pull out from in front of me.

Hey Kenn - For the times I've used it- it works really well. I have a commute- 60 miles into Chicago. The last 15miles is bumper to bumper- stop and go - for that 1 pedal is easy enough to use.
I dont think I'd ever use SuperCruise or ACC for that. In heavy traffic - depending on how you have your Distance Settings set- it will keep you at speed with the car in front of you and adjust to cars pulling in and out. It will slow or brake if severe. the further distance the better. Compared to my Model Y/ AuotPilot- Its much better in the sense you don't have to keep hands on the wheel and lane changes are much smoother as you to have to re-engage it with Tesla. Keep in mind it is not completely Autonomous Driving- you need to be Aware and take control when ready - but for long drives SuperCruise is well worth it.
