I just said that same thing to my sons. Is it an EV?

It’s a different class of car. The Buick Encore GX is a compact while the Chevrolet Bolt EUV is a subcompact. When the Equinox EV arrives, it will a much more fitting comparison.

I parked beside an Encore the other day, and though there are a number of differences... they do have a definite likeness.

I was surprised to see the front console and shifters in the Encore. Look familiar?

When I read the OP, it sounds like a looks comparison, not a size one.

I agree with the OP, I can see the resemblance with the Bolt EUV.

All GM small crossover / hatchbacks look similar, especially from behind. When I first bought the Bolt, I kept doing double-takes to see if a car was a Bolt. Besides the Buicks, the Trax and even the Equinox at a quick glance can look similar.

Ultimately, it's the rake of the Bolt's windshield (2017-21) that sets it apart more than anything else.

Call me jaded, but then again, I did own a GM Xbody Japan killer back in the day. Oh brother, that'll get you over GM real quick.
Here's the opinion on the encore from CR:
"The Encore's 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine does it no favors. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, it's often struggling. Acceleration times are slow. And there's no real payoff for having such a tiny powerplant; it only gets 23 mpg overall."

Go, Go!!! A Gm 1.4L with a turbo. Why would anybody buy ANYTHING with a turbo?
I can't imagine buying ANY ICE car and one with a turbo is just... laughable.

I guess this explains why the interior/center ended up like it did.

I wonder if that Encore has a somehow adjustable center armrest though?

I flippin' HATE that in my 2023 .. My elbow hurts from resting on the front edge all the time unless I contort my right arm and force it further back

Edit: Looks like it simply has a fixed center armrest that extends further forward. I wish I could get that in the 2023 Bolt, even if it blocks the rear cupholder height. I would trade that in a heartbeat for actual right arm resting/comfort
