Take a look at the Aptera .... not exactly a direct competitor to Bolt, but at $25K with 250 mile range, fascinating

They started development of this several years ago, but were too far ahead of their time, and closed down.
Recently resuscitated looks like they might actually get to market this time.

It can apparently really be significantly charged but its own solar panels in many climate zones, and in one configuration has a 1000 mile range.

I actually put a $100 deposit on one to hold my place in line.

---- added notes FWIW after seeing others' comments ---
I ordered one with the 400 mile range. In truth with our pattern of use and the fact that the 250 mile version can be fully re-charged in an hour at a level-2 charger 250 would be plenty.
Of note and interest to me is that it has no drive train. The motors are right in the hubs. That means no CV-joints, etc, to fail.

a three wheeler can be made to do anything a four wheeler can.

That took about two seconds to disprove.
LOL. Always so serious. Okay, how about this one:

Quoting you here @redpoint5 since we're about 100' deep into that dude's main stream EV thread talking about the Aptera :ROFLMAO:
I think what redpoint5 is missing from his calculation is that there is a convenience of less need for charging, which has a value. I'd say that the solar on the Aptera is far morel likely to have a net positive impact than nearly every efficiency mod ever made.
But... I still doubt that the real-world performance of the solar will match their claims. I would also wonder what the degradation rate is on these custom panels.
I would worry about what's going to happen when there's an accident with a regular car and the pictures of a destroyed Aptera are all over the news. Aptera could also be destroyed. I'd also worry about being the one in that accident, but that's really not much different than the danger of riding on a motorcycle.

Yeah that won't happen. People said the same thing about the Smart and it's a far more dangerous vehicle then the Aptera will be.
And when the Bolt fires started happening, the point was made about how much more likely a fire is with an ICE vehicle. How well did that reasoning work?
They got that reputation cause they failed.
They got that reputation because they are EV's, which are treated differently by the media.
We should see Aptera crash tests before the end of the year
I thought they made it a 3-wheeler to avoid having to do that.
they want to revolutionize transport not create a niche for people who are looking for an alternative to motorcycles
Well, I think you (and them) are dead wrong then. Everything about this vehicle absolutely screams "niche". I think that like many start-up companies, they have a "vision" but they failed to see if their vision matches what the public actually wants.

Did you notice 0 to 60mph in 3.5 seconds for the AWD version?
Two main ways to increase 0-60 is to increase power or reduce weight. Most manufacturers don't go the reduced weight direction because you have to remove things like sound deadening materials, structural safety, and nice things that everyone wants in a car. Looking at the weight is one reason why I question the safety of the vehicle. Safety adds weight.
Aptera says the design is intended to maximize efficiency, not to avoid regulations
What else would they say? Do you also believe everything that GM says? Or Tesla?

You didn't mention the tooth fairy.
Difference is that the Tooth Fairy has never lied. 😝

A 2-seater almost implies a vehicle not owned by someone with a family. Almost.
It's perfect for long trips. So.... just pull a trailer with little Johnny and all your luggage in it.

EV Enthusiasts: Average commute is 30 miles round trip. You don't need high range!
Also EV Enthusiasts: OMG! Look at how high the range on this vehicle is! Game changer!

Depends on how the fast charging system is on it I guess. I would imagine that it could cut a few hours out of a cross country trek if it charges at even 150 kW.
A light weight two seater for cross country EV treks. To calculate the people in the market for that kind of vehicle I almost had to use two hands.

The longest I recall driving in a day was Chula Vista...
Chula Vista?!? I lived most of my life there. We're like brothers. ;)

I visited Tijuana
Well, it is close. There's a reason that the nickname for Chula Vista is Chulajuana. My wife says I'm not really a white guy because I grew up in Chula Vista and married a Hispanic.

I bet you can speak Spanglish?
Oh, I love making up Spanglish words just to get my wife riled up. In fact, my wife said that I wasn't "fully" Anglo so I said "Okay, but I'm a little bit Anglo... then call me Anglo-ito."
