Hi. Has anyone bought the newer Tesla gen II UMC (32 amp) and used it successfully with the teslatap? Mine did not work for my bolt despite the UMC working to charge Teslas I tested it on. I’m wondering if I had a dud or if there is a new incompatibility. Thanks. My tap worked fine on my car with an older 40 amp UMC.

I'd start with the Tesla Tap since the charger has been shown to work on other cars - maybe you can find a Tesla Charger near by and try the tap with that charger - there are lots of Tesla destination chargers around - just try one out for 5-10 minutes and see if your Tap doesn't work.

I went to Tesla and they said it’s a fallacy that the actual UMC contains “firmware”. They said if anything that would be a firmware update of a Tesla vehicle to optimize the interaction with the UMC. Sadly I’ve encountered a lot of confusion and perhaps misinformation. Too bad this whole cable thing hasn’t worked seamless for me. And Tesla is pretty slow and not super responsive especially for non Tesla car owners.
