At last, Tesla is accepting orders from the list of new customers who have placed deposits. The total number of deposits placed to date is something over 400,000. Only the high end Model 3 Long Range is currently available (around $50,000 to $60,000 selling price). Those who currently own a Tesla are being given priority. Delivery is expected to be about a month after the buyer places their order for the car.

An unexpected benefit of the Model 3 hype for Tesla has been an increase in orders for their other vehicles (the Model S and Model X). However, their overall production capacity is limited by availability of certain key components (including battery packs), so deliveries of these vehicles will be slowed by the increased demand.

As of a couple of weeks ago, it appears the delivery dates for the Model 3 Standard and Model 3 FWD were slipped back (again) to 'late 2018'.
