So I driver Uber/Lyft and go through a set of tires ever year, so it dosent pay on spending big on tires. Vercelli Stradas .. $63!!!!

When my lease expires, it may just get turned in on the oem tires on it now. Or, I may keep it. If so, I’m going to get the most aggressive summer performance tires I can find, upgrade the shocks, add the Cruze stabilizer bar and do whatever else I can find to turn Zappo into the hot hatch he is so clearly wanting to be. Then, pick up a set of cheap Cruze steelies off of Fleabay and fit excellent winter tires. Swap when the weather turns, and one can stay in the trunk in the summer in case I get a flat.

#13 ·
Verify that the diameters of the tires are the same, if you swap one out on the front, for a flat. Different diameter tires can drive an ABS and/or traction control system bonkers, and potentially damage a transaxle. With a flat on the front, you may need to swap one of the rears out, and put the spare on the rear.

This isn't a potential problem with just the Bolt. The swap-with-a-rear process can apply to ICE FWDs, too. A similar process should probably followed for RWD vehicles, as well.

At the highest use of winter/summer HVAC, it drops down to 2.5-3.0, but mostly it’s 3.5-the default 3.9 unless I am babying it for some reason. Decent tires with, like, grip would obvi have a negative impact, but I really don’t care. I rarely drive even 100 miles in a day, and I have Level 2 EVSE in my garage. To have a more enjoyable driving experience, year round, is well worth a bit of a hit on range.

If you want to see what expensive tires do vs cheap tires. Here is a video with expensive tires at the front vs cheap tires at the back.

Things start to get more complicated when you look at worn tires instead of new tires (basically when worn expensive tires aren't always better and you can be lucky with a specific cheap tire)

Just an update guys .. I really really like these Vercelli Stradas... a few thousand miles already on them. Wear is good, very quiet and I really really want to say my range has actually improved but I cannot verify it.

Start off in the Mornings at 5 miles/kWh... at the end of the day after a couple hundred miles I'm at 4.5 . 75% CITY / 25% HWY .

AC is mostly off maybe on 2 hours.

I cant say I've gained range but certainly didnt lose any.

For $63 , I'd absolutely buy them again

Me too from the waist down (where the rubber hits da road) I was also looking at Vredesteins but wow 63 bucks? Maybe I will do all 4 even though 2 are ok. WOOPS NO I WONT after reading some reviews.
My sumitomos are crazy in the rain. Thats a key issue ....with all our torque on command ....off to research the Vercelli
tire rack maybe has stats on these. Nope! they dont...They are now $76 each at walmart. 75 bad reviews and way more good ones. This is at walmarts site reviews:

    Worst tires ever
Bought these tires 6/1/2021 had them installed 6/3/2021 the two passenger tires burst at the seam of the sidewall on the passenger side of the vehicle. I am very disappointed with the product. Also had an issue with the installation as they cut my custom caps off without asking but made sure they cut them where they would there have to wasnt enough left on there for me to twist it off.

    Manufacturer defective, no warranty
DO NOT BUY. NO WARRANTY. 5 MONTHS AND THERE'S A CRACK IN THE INSIDE SIDEWALL. WAL-MART WILL NOT REPLACE. Road Hazard does not cover manufacturer defects. This tire has no warranty. Was happy with it on my Subaru Legacy 2014 until today. DO. NOT. BUY. A Google search of Vercelli shows a pretty good rating, but absolutely no contact for you to find the manufacturer to ask for help. I mean this is a crack less than the width of my pinky nail. My 3 year old could stem the flow of air with her pinky. And I'm out $$ because of a MANUFACTURER DEFECT. This is not road damage! It's facing inside the tire well so no one damaged it. It's not a bent rim. This is a poorly made tire.

Never hold air. Now we have had them a year and I have to air them up every other day plus there's a gash in the side of one.

    Wrong label on tires
Be careful before purchasing. I ordered them and never got to put them on. The label on the tires read 235/55/R18. But when you look on the sidewall, it reads 235/50R18. I know the aspect ratio is slightly different, but it's the principal of the matter that the company that manufactures it isn't following protocol to ensure that the label is matching up with the actual product. Makes me wonder how much the product itself will perform. If you having Walmart put them on, verify that they indeed are putting on the correct size tires you're paying for. I'm glad I did.

    Caution, not semetrical tires
Side wall not the same on both sides, have different markings and look different when mounted so they rotate in the direction indicated on the sidewall. THEY MUST BE MOUNTED SO THE ROTATE IN THE DIRECTION INDICATED OR THE WILL NOT PERFORM EQUALLY CAUSING UNPREDICTABLE HANDLING IN CERTAIN CONDITIONS. THERE IS NO INDICATION IN THE WEBSITE INFORMATION. They look funny when mounted because the sidewalls are not the same on both sides and must be flipped so the rotate properly as indicated on one side of the automobile.

    Do Not Buy These Tires!
Worst tire I ever purchased - less than 9 months old and Walmart will not rotate them because there isn't enough tread left on them. I haven't been able to find any warranty information, but they should last longer than 9 months and 10000 miles!

Cheap and unreliable tires... Stay away
Would not recommend at all. Owned the tires for less than 6 months on a commuter car. Rotated the tire once at 3 months. So I just had some work done on my car an on inspection at the shop, on of my tires were worn down and cut on the inside showing the metal fibers. Thought I had a bad alignment. I replaced the 2 tires and did a alignment on my car. To my surprise my car was within spec still and did not require an adjustment. The 2nd thing was I drove about 8k on commuter miles and the rest of the tires have worn down to more than half. I tried to get warranty coverage and was turned away. I checked my replacement tires and have no unusual wear at all. I really wanted to like the tires but with the results, I saved no money and receive a ...See more

Cheap non durable tires. Don't buy
Horrible! Don't buy they won't cover your tire if something happens. Guy couldn't even pull up my order even though I just bought the tires 22 days ago. The tire is cheap. Save yourself time and just buy a more durable tire.

Thanks for sharing your discovery. I'll be in the market for new tires soon, and I had no idea about these. For the price, I will probably just replace all 4 (I have 2 that are worn out, but the other 2 are still OK). I live in coastal California, so I believe I can drive these year round.

I think i will invest in Vredestein. Just in case I ever ski again, they are extreme snow rated.
ALSO I LIKE TO CRUISE AT 180 MPH and these are rated for it! yipeeeee

Prices on these tires have risen. But what hasn't. I just found a set at a great price. Even lower than the OP paid.

But hey are 55mm tall. Not 50. Has anyone ever run 55's on the Bolt? Any clearance issues?

Finally picked up a set of these tires. The prior deal fell through. Outside their delivery range. These are not mounted yet and won't be for a while. But I have a new set of OEMs on hand so I thought I'd do a quick comparison. Different tread pattern to be sure. And the Vercelli Stradas seem to give about a millimeter more of tread depth.

Morning , I was just checking prices yesterday on the Vercelli Strada 2's as I am getting ready to take off the Snow Tires. I need just 2 of them this year , driving rideshare I dont even bother rotating. I'll just replace the fronts. They have 40K miles on them (the tires are rated at 43K miles) Prices did go up about $20.

I think you'll be very happy with range and how quiet they are. Post after you get them installed and get a few miles on them

#28 ·
As a side note, cost of installing tires has shot up 20% since I last changed tires.

Also just learned that the 10' sticks of Unistrut I use on my solar system that charges the car is from $20 a stick to $30 a stick. Eye popping 50%.

I just put a new set of tires on my (V6) 2011 Equinox. I went with Uniroyal Tiger Paw because the UTQG # was 700, Tread Depth was 11.5 mm, and the Warranty was 75,000 miles. Paid $124 each.

Never saw Vecelli tires anywhere I looked (Walmart.com, Tirebuyer.com, or TireRack.com) for the size I needed 225/60/R18 ... and I don't even see them looking now ... except with a general Google search.

Made in Thailand. Now I'm seeing a lot of complaints on Walmart.com ... "didn't last" ... "defective" ... "failed in just a few months" ..."no contact to resolve issues" ... etc. ... but you never know about the veracity of such comments, I guess...

Maybe @OneEV can post back with regular updates?

#39 ·
Other than price increase this year they are perfect...do not use them in icy/snow conditions.

Treads good..I'll double check day or two on miles. remember I drive hard doing rideshare uber/lyft, so I am rougher on tires more so than a commuter. running mostly city a lot of cornering all day long.

I really do recommend them

#41 ·
@OneEV thank you for posting about these tires. I finally ran out the life on my set of Vogues I've had for over 50,000 miles and slapped these babies on. I got them from Walmart for just under $100 each, so not as good as yours (I live in Cali). They're substantially quieter and smoother riding than the Vogues being replaced, and their efficiency is at or better than the old tires. Much better value than any of the "Green" kind of tire costing over twice as much. They're not as stiff as the Vogues, so they may not corner better, but who cares, this is a daily driver on rough roads.

I considered some Chinese branded tires a few years ago because they seemed like they were a good value. Then I saw all of the NHTSA reports about tires separating. A guy on a car forum claimed that he worked with the NHTSA on these reports. He didn't have a lot of nice things to say about many of the brands that I was considering. Just something to consider.

#44 ·
Just bought four vercelli strada II's plus the tire inflator kit to replace the OEM Michelin energy saver A/S self seals. I immediatelly noticed how much quieter they are. I am amazed the tires can make that much of a difference. I am hoping they will have the same range and a longer life. The energy savers were expensive and did not last very long.

#45 ·
I hope your hope happens.

Of course, there are many positive reviews, but one doesn't have to search very long to find some less so:

The Thailand manufacturer has created Vercelli Strada ii tires and distributed and owned by American Omni Tires situated in Katy, Texas. . . . . this tire became noisier and harder after running a thousand miles. Additionally, they will damage quickly if you do not perfectly maintain them with proper rotations and pressure.
On snow-covered roads, the Strada 2 struggles. You can’t rely on it to keep your vehicle stable, even on roads that haven’t received much snow. Things will deteriorate quickly if you count on it to take you from point A to point B on hard, snow-packed roads. . . . it is meant to be driven in summer conditions and moderately winter ones. Only by keeping this tire away from wintry conditions could you count on it to outlast its warranty of 45,000 miles.
This was my first time ordering tires from amazon. They were good at first, but 6 months later not so good. Few weeks ago I noticed that my car was not handling well. I also noticed a lot of road noise. Also, the ride was rough. One day I happened to have my steering wheel turned and noticed uneven wear on a front tire. I took the car to a repair shop. They looked it over and everything was tight on the front end. They said the wear looked weird, but maybe I needed an alignment. They said my alignment was perfect. I suspect a belt has broken. All I know is that I would advise anyone to reconsider purchasing these tires. Spend the extra $, so you can purchase a warranty and have a real live person to talk with when you have a problem. I am thinking about removing all 4 and going to a tire shop for new better ones. UPDATE... it's been 16 months and about 30k miles on these tires. They are shot. I had my car in for a repair and again the tech could not understand why they were so uneven. I THINK THEY ARE PAID REVIWEWS. MY ADVICE IS TO MOVE ON. I WILL CONTACT SELLER. I SHOULD HAVE SOME SORT OF REFUND.
YMMV.
