Hi guys,
I know the law only allows 35% tinting on the driver and passanger window but I was wondering what you guys have done regarding the % for the backseat passengers’ windows and the back window? I wanted as dark as possible but I’m afradi of not being able to see through the back window while driving at night.
On the other hand I do not want ppl to see what I am carrying should I have the backseats down...

Thanks

The shop where I got the windows tinted on our Bolt had four shades of tinting. The darkest shade they referred to as “Limo tint” and said that it would restrict vision out the back window during the winter months. I assume they were referring to the fact that there are more hours of darkness during winter so any vision restriction would be noticed more often. We went with the LImo tint and I am glad we did. I don’t find night vision inconveniently restricted and it makes up for the auto dimming review mirror not always dimming when I would like it to (I wouldn’t chose most “auto” features if I had a choice, but we had to take the mirror with the heated seats).

I do miss the factory dark glass that was on my Buick Encore, I could keep things on the back load floor, I didn't have to worry about people seeing anything.

You had to get right next to the window to see what was back there, at that point its obvious that they are up to no good.

Usually I get ~70% for the back window and back side windows and ~60% for the front side windows (front side windows are technically illegal here in California but I haven't been ticketed for it in a couple decades).

For the Bolt I thought about getting really dark (like 90% or even more) for the back window since I never even use that window but one reason why I probably won't is because I don't want people to think I'm hiding something back there.
