Breaking News! According to "Green Car Reports", August 16, 2019: "Charging stations now outnumber gas stations in Britain"! Later in the article: "In the U.S. there are 22,408 charging stations {Alternative Fuels Data Center} and 168,000 gas stations {EPA}."

My opinion: This is a really cool milestone. Other European countries should tip that balance soon, but it will take 8-10 years for the U.S. to catch up. By then, I am not sure the Bolt EV will still be manufactured, but there will be >100 other models (some by Chevrolet) from which to choose.

It will be fun to observe which U.S. State will be the first to achieve this milestone. I can pretty assuredly say that it won't be my State of West Virginia!

wonder if the definition of station is a problem with counting the number of "nozzles" available to fill with. In the EV world they call a charging station a stand alone unit. Where in the gasoline world they call it a filling station that has multiple units to fill from.

There is no consistent definition of 'station'. Some count every plug as a station, some count each stanchion (post) a station (whether 1, 2 or 4 plugs), and some term the 'location' as a station, no matter how many plugs. I favor the last definition, but am, by no means, in the majority.
