Any idea what it is about since my OBD2 reader (OBD DOCTOR) has no description for it.

cleared it and Service Light turned off but I don't like cryptic stuff... On some chevys it seems related to HVAC.

Yes confirmed it's HVAC issue. Luckily I am schedule for annual inspection next week.

I got a U1510 error a week ago, so I made an appointment at the dealer's and in the mean time I did some digging around.

The U1510 is a general catch all code for the K9 Body control module getting improper status back from a device on its Linear_Interconnect_Network (LIN) bus.
Some of the devices are: A20 Radio HVAC controls,P17 Display module, B67 ultrasonic intrusion sensor,B165 Content theft, M96 Active grill Air shutter activator, M60A shutter motor, A25 HVAC controller, A34 HVAC Controls, K171 hands free lift gate sensor, S34a Lift gate switch, P51 Lane Centering indicators - Steering wheel, B80 Park brake switch, S70D S70R steering wheel controls.
In short, all types of small stuff that is impossible to get at and needs the removal of some dash or body trim (K9 next to your left knee cap, A34 behind the P17 display module, M96 radiator stuff behind the front grill and bumper).

The dealer's diagnostic scanning equipment is like an OBD2 device on steroids and it can get more detailed information.

I had a hunch that my U1510 error was caused by the heating, ventilation, air conditioning system (HVAC) because I could reproduce the problem by doing a key fob precondition sequence.
The detailed diagnostic called out the radiator shutter assembly. More data is always better than hunches :)

for grins, make sure you don't have a woodchuck in there.

Looking at your post, at least by removing the front (plastic) bumper assembly you get access to both the grill parts and the radiator shutter assembly.
Last week my local garage had some training on GM OBD2 codes. When he mentioned the U1510 code to the presenter, he was answered that the U1510 is usually the shutter assembly. I wonder that our shutter experiences are examples why this is the go to reason for the U1510 code.
You picture shows the shutter deformed from the woodchuck paying a visit through the grill. My shutter failure was due to the actuator motor ceasing up.
I forgot to ask for the damaged assembly to play with the motor and have the plastic shutter parts. They might have come in handy.

Hi, I also have this U1510 code. And my car will not precondition. Was the solution to your issue the shutter assembly?
