I hope they know that storing 1000 bolts in a parking lot isn't going to do anything to improve local air quality... though I am sure it helps them capture a lot of State and Federal money.
The few ferrous-metal components on the vehicle can perform some oxygen capture duties! It will just take a while...

Seeing this giant stock pile of Bolts makes me think I want an extra one. I certainly don't need an extra Bolt, and my wife won't let me have an extra, but now I want one. We are very happy with our Bolt...

I prefer to think that this Bolt stock pile is buybacks awaiting battery replacements, in order to prioritize replacement of customer-owned vehicles first.

Alternatively if the advanced technology of these vehicles has led to them to rapidly evolve and become self aware (i.e. the Singularity), then they could be planning something?

--Fortunately that is more likely to happen to the Teslas first, but then they might assimilate the Bolts.

I just completed a MSRP swap so mine is either there or on its way. There is also the 2017 I traded in as well. I would buy it back either of them well at the right price since there is really nothing wrong with it beyond the recall. But the MSRP swap was one of the easiest no-brainer decisions I have ever made.

When my father took his Bolt EV in for a buyback, he asked what was going to happen to it. The dealership had no idea other than a roll-back would come and take it away. I guess we know where they went... but we still don't know what's going to happen to them.

the BOLT is a great platform but there is little $$$ in a reliable, efficient EV
This is incorrect. GM makes the majority of its money by selling and financing cars. GM, Ford, Toyota, et al, make very little on the repair and maintenance of cars. That money goes to the dealership. The established manufacturers along with the EV startups, have spent a great deal of time and money trying to forecast the sales of EVs and are acting accordingly.

I watched the documentary you provided a link to years ago. Keep in mind that what was the paradigm 25 years ago, no longer holds water. I would think that oil companies would be looking toward the future and installing charging stations at their current gas stations. It would be in their financial interest to do so now as opposed to 25 years in the past.
