Might it be possible to replace the useless wireless charging module with a standard Qi from Amazon? It hard to tell from the pictures just how much room is available? I'm working on 3D printing a new slot that my iPhone 8Plus will actually fit into and I'm considering making the interior of the slot narrow and including a holder of a Qi charging on the driver side of the slot. Thoughts?

I'd love to see a detailed walkthrough on what you do. The standard slot is juuuust big enough for my Samsung S7 Edge... but not in an Otterbox or heavy case. If it was as simple as a half hour of quality time with a Dremel...

Just pull out the rubber insert. I can easily fit my Iphone 7 plus with a case in the slot without the rubber. I put a little foam at the bottom of the slot so it doesn't rattle and it's perfect for 2 minutes of work.
