I believe the original infotainment software in the 2017 had a bug that allowed certain file extensions to play video. You'll probably never find one that hasn't been updated though.

It was not a bug. It was there for the obvious reason that you might want to play something while charging. Their lawyers quickly vetoed that. The reasonable thing to do would be to only allow video when in Park. I would never have had that update, if I had known they were taking the video feature away. We had this done at the dealer during an early free checkup. The Bolt is supposed to do infotainment updates OTA, but in almost 5 years ours has never had an OTA update.
