There are VINs registered in Oregon in Georgia with Y or Z in position 5 (TRIM/SERIES) for the LT and the Premiere in small numbers coexisting with W or X in larger numbers . I would like to know why this variation in the VIN exists. The Y&Z do not present themselves in 2017 VINs. They are only present in 2018 and 2019 VINs.

maybe ones that have the confidence package II. googled that package and got lots of VIN hits with Y and Z.
It would be good if we could some window stickers from 2018 or 2019 Bolts with a W or an X and a Y or a Z in the fifth position of the VIN to see if there is any difference.

I have a 19 LT with a Y 5th.
I got both confidence pkgs, DC charging, and the convenience pkg.
any chance of seeing your window sticker. You can tape over the serial number if you are concerned about privacy.

There are other possible differences. Such as if the battery was manufactured Korea or Michigan.

I have a 19 LT with DCFC, Comfort and Convenience Pkg and Driver Confidence Pkg. Fifth letter is a "Y". Final assy Lake Orion, MI. Country of origin: Engine (motor): Korea. Transmission (electric Drive Unit): Korea

No specific info about battery on the sticker.
Let me know if you need more info.

Misinformation on YouTube?

Shocking!
Thats the thing about Scotty Kilmer. If You've watched his videos You'll see they are anti- Tesla and anti- EV because those things are eventually going to put him and many mechanics mostly out of business. From the little I've experienced with EV's there are just less things that can and do go wrong. The only thing I can honestly see going up in demand is a higher demand for Tires on EV's VS. Gas cars due to the Torque. Also for Nay Sayers You can google Chevy Bolt battery pack and the price is now around 12k NEW. I'm fairly certain 10-15 years from now IF I still have the car and IF it even needs a pack I can get one for new or used for a lot less than that. Modules are now 3K and I'm sure that aftermarket will make a lower cost version in time...

I never heard of him, so I watched a couple of videos, which he appears to do from his garage.

I think we need to start a GoFundMe page so Scotty can clean up his garage and driveway. His driveway is lined with old metal five gallon cans full of of god-knows-what, random tools and debris scattered everywhere, and it looks like an old boat on its side is growing out of the weeds. I don’t see how anybody can get into the garage. He has his own mini superfund site right on his driveway.

Maybe it’s just me, and maybe he’s a brilliant mechanic, but I wouldn’t let anyone who’s such a slob anywhere near any of my cars.

As for his advice, it seems like general run of the mill stuff, even his video on EVs was pretty tame. He’s no bomb-thrower.
