I'm using the free dual level EVSE. The only thing I hate is the stiff wire insulation. It's diffcult to wind it back up on the hanger.

I have a SplitVolt 24A EVSE plugged into my dryer socket in the mudroom at the moment (extension cord goes out the doggy door haha). I keep the included charging cord in the trunk just in case.

I'm still trying to get a home charging socket installed. Since the dryer socket is on the inside of the exterior wall where I want the real charger mounted, I am thinking about just using a dryer buddy and adding an exterior socket. It'd only be good for 24A instead of the 48A a new circuit would give me, but at this point it seems like it would be much less of a headache.

You most likely got what you were supposed to. The dual voltage ones come with some of the higher trim levels EUVs (not sure about EVs) and otherwise they are an extra cost option.
