Does anybody know what this hook is called and/or where I can find one? This is the little round insert piece in the trunk area that you attach the luggage cover shade thingie to. I lost one of 'em. My searching is hampered by not knowing the right term. Thanks!

Check with the parts desk at your Chevy dealer. If there is a separate part number for it, they should know it. I'd call it a cargo area security shade anchor insert, located in the rear interior lower quarter trim panel.

that thing is a terrible design, and one of mine falls out all the time. i'm sure i'll lose it, but $18 for one is highway robbery. i think i'll just get a dowel and stick through the loop in the cargo cover, and stick it in the hole. the tension of the cover should hold it in. if not, just affix it to the loop somehow.

Mine came off when one of the bayonet tabs that holds it in place broke. For a while I just screwed a cup hook into the recessed hole where the original part was, but I eventually replaced it with an OEM part from the GM parts department. I took a photo of it with me and we found it on the diagram in their parts database. The part description is "Cover" and it's part number 42482233. It cost me Cdn$28.50, plus taxes.

GM did call the AEB as Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking for up to the 2019 model year, what do you expect? :)

Question out of nowhere, is there an easy way to pop it out without destroying it?
I tried (only once) to put a kind of cargo fishnet but could only fit one of the end, so I'm trying to print (3d printer FTW!) a better-suited part.
Worst case I will just glue them behind!

I've had mine just fall off if they get turned slightly. Appears that you turn it to engage and disengage.

For anyone else who finds this thread like I did, if you (or a friend) have a 3D printer, there's an STL file for this part available here:

I used one of the online 3D printing services and got it for about $9 (shipping included) -- about half of what GM wants for it.

I just purchased a 2017 Bolt EV that is missing this part.
I have found this thread very helpful in identifying the part.

If able, pls provide a little more info ... which service, what type of plastic you specified, other stuff?

Thanks!

Ha! I've been checking the new postings on this site, to keep up on how the battery fire situation is affecting used Bolt sales. So I saw this unrelated thread that was just updated. I immediately recognized the part, as earlier today I found the same (or similar) part, broken in the back of my 2011 Volt.
Gotta love this forum!
Keep up the good work gang.

Oh that. That is called a “thingamajig”.
You can find them next to the doohickeys and the watchamacallits.

🤣
