To the Left of the GOM is an area going from the bottom figure (minimum mileage) to the top (maximum mileage). As I drive a white line creeps up or down that area starting from the middle figure. I guess that this is telling me how my current driving is changing the GOM algorithm up or down. Is this right? Can anyone give me a more elegant way to explain what this little white line is doing??

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, what I think of as the "trend indicator" on my Bolt is a green line that creeps upward when driving efficiency improves or an orange line that creeps downward when driving efficiency deteriorates. (I have the instrument cluster set to display white lettering on a black background).

I have a theory on how to interpret this, although I haven't done any tests to confirm it: The length of the line represents how much better the current driving conditions are as a proportion of the "Min", "Max" and current estimated range figures. For example, if your current estimated range is 100 miles and the max is 120, a green line that rises to the halfway point between the two numbers on the display tells you that the driving conditions right now would lead to a 110 mile range.

That's my theory, although I never stretch those last few watt-hours of charge making to a charging opportunity such that these kinds of distinctions would make a difference for me.

Finally got to see mine, with the line heavily negative, slowly begin to match the middle prediction to the worst case. As I came in, with twenty miles left in the middle box, exactly matching the worst case box below it, I finished up a 178 mile run, mostly on superhighway. It was also less than 40 degrees outside. I need this winter range to take my wife to hospital infusions. Thus, I will be preconditioning, running without heat...only steering wheel and seats on low.

For Defrost, without turning on the Bolt's all out killer system, I just picked up a lithium portable pwr unit that can run a micro heater defroster for hours. Will turn it on, if I need defrost. Later, in the day, coming home, with NM sunlight through the windshield, I never need defrost.

Doesn't anyone RTFM anymore?

what is the brand of portable power and heater? Do You have any links to the product pages?
