Hi Everyone,
I bought a new 2023 Bolt EUV LT in early December 2023. I love it and have had no problems until I got my most recent electric bill.
I use the Chevy supplied 120/240 charger at 120 V and 8 amps in my garage. I live in Maryland so the temperatures in winter have ranged from 20's-40's F.
I received my most recent electric bill and as I said it increased from around $200 a month for electric to $1,200! I drove about 1,000 miles in about 31 days, and charged using my charger to about 80%.
I called the electric company and they came out and checked our meter and it is ok.
So my question is how come my electric went up so much? Is the 120 V charger so inefficient that it uses / loses so much electricity in charging? Help! It just seems crazy to me.
Thanks,
Gary in Maryland
