2017 Chevy Bolt EV battery may fail due to faulty cell; new pack needed for a few GM electric cars (updated)

Question is whether this was a one time and done for GM or are they getting some kind of routine scan/reporting... reason I ask is that we have a few people who had faulty battery issue, when it should have been caught by GM via On Star...

In my case, GM did catch the low cell and triggered a recall (this August). They had an ambassador keep calling until we finally connected on a voice call; the app showed I had a recall.

GM failed here anyway on mine at least. I guess when I bought it there was already a Recall on it that apparently ONLY GM dealers and such could see. I know this because the DATE of the recall was Sept 2017. I bought my Bolt in Oct 2017. This car should NOT have been sold to me before the recall was done. So shame on them.
I didn't find out about the recall until Mid Spring 2018.. yes I did do a recall search before I bought the car while doing research.
BTW, my Bolt was built in May 2017

That is unfortunate but maybe you will get the newer pack chemistry as a replacement and get more range. Think positive. Keep us posted.

It was replaced last year in the fall. I doubt I got a New type of pack. I am sure it was just another from the 2017 model

Mine was replaced in September and the replacement's the original chemistry.

Test? Why? We have customers to do our beta testing !!

But seriously, they didn't recall all cars, just ones that THROUGH USAGE DATA (while driving) they were shown to have bad cells; before the car was driven a bit, nobody would know if there was a problem or not. (Or am I thinking of a different problem?)
