Switched to the winter setup today on our 2023 EUV Premier. Nokian Hakkas R3 (215/50/17) from discount tire, Sonic Z-spec silver wheels (new) from a local Chevy dealer, and TPMS (part #13540603) from eBay. Used the center caps from OEM wheels. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
I was originally concerned about the change in wheel width (7" OEM vs. 6.5 on these Sonic ones), but from all the research and per the tire shop, it seems a non-issue.

From my 110,000+ miles of experience with over-sized tires, a 225x50x17 inch tire would have fit nicely for wheel well clearance & lifted the car a trace for the winter. Don’t know if your narrower Sonic wheel would have handled the 225mm width tho. I may get a Chevy Bolt & a non-winter 215x55x17 tire may fit, but not sure.
My smaller Hyundai Accent had standard 175x70x14 inch tires & for the winter, I put 195x75x14 studded tires on it, which are as tall as 215x50x17 Bolt standard tires. I love them.

What might add to the "interesting" aspect of your weather event is its effect on your Bolt's range.
Perhaps! My assumption going in was a drop in range by at least 15-20 %. I've reset the avg mi/kwh. We'll see how it performs. But as long as I can do my 90-mile round trip to work safely, the range hit is not much of a factory if any. ⛄

Interesting information. Thank you for sharing. The maximum width of tire recommended for these 17x6.5" wheels was 215, with the ideal being 205. So, I was not comfortable initially pushing to that limit. We'll see how it holds up.

I switched to winter Blizzaks a few weeks ago. Size 215/55R16. I'm getting 170mi (2.6 mi/kwh) per charge now vs. 195mi (3.0 mi/kwh) with stock tires. That's a 12% drop but it's also been colder so reduced range not all due to the tires. My driving is 90% interstate at 78mph.

Thanks for sharing your winter setup. Having only one tire shop currently operating on the Sunshine Coast, I had few options. I decided to order winter tires through Kenmac, a local auto parts store—Antares Grip 20 (215/50R17 95H XL)). Our local wrecker found me 17” wheels off of a 2019 Cruze that she had shipped from Winnipeg. I chose not to bother with the TPMS sensors as I am one who prefers to switch the tires over with the season myself and don’t want to have to bother with getting them programmed. I have a tire gauge and I check my tires often. The TPMS light flashes for a minute and then stays solid, but we’re just going to think of it as our “winter tire” light. The BC Coast has been hit pretty hard with a dump of snow this week, and I’m super happy with the traction and how our Bolt EV is holding the road.

I've not seen any reports of Bolt range dropping below 100mi due to temperature. I expect you'll be fine.

Quick Update: I was having some issues with the Hakka 3 tires, the car would sway to the left at speeds over ~40mph. Sometimes, especially with cross winds, I was fighting the steering to bring it back on course. When I went back to Discount Tire, they suggested it could be the air pressure, but that didn't help. Next they re-balanced the tires on the wheels and found the fronts were off by around 4ounces and fixed it. But that didn't fix the issue. Finally, they suspected it was the tires, but because they couldn't find any to replace under warranty, they ordered Hakka 5 tires. While I was waiting for the 5s to come in, they had swapped my setup back to OEM, and there was no swaying issue. Got the Hakka 5s fitted today. We shall see.
