Equinox, Easy Choice
Not an easy choice for some people. The Equinox is larger than the EUV, and significantly larger than the EV. Size matters for some people.

I just saw a recent post claiming that the next Bolt will 'not' be a crossover but, instead, a 'sedan'. I'm not sure what that means, but it could be more akin to the Bolt EV than the EUV.

I'd suggested in the past that it might be better for GM to go the EV route with the next Bolt, even though the EUV outsold it 3-to-1, simply due to the proliferation of CUV-type BEVs from not only GM, but other manufacturers, as well. The Equinox EV wasn't around then, so the more conventional EV style might be a better seller this time around.

I know I sure like the lower beltline and window sills of the Bolt EV.

Lies <<< I'm team bolt EV all the way, doesn't make sense to make everything bigger. I heard an old rumor of doing several variations on both, I think that would be a good idea. Did they even promise it won't be the same EV body w superficial refreshes?

Unless GM does a massive switch, they've already said it will be based on the EUV. That certainly doesn't fit within a sedan footprint.

I know. The post wasn't exactly from a reliable source and I didn't see the information anywhere else. Still, I wonder about the cannablization of EqEV sales by a smaller, cheaper Bolt EUV. The demographics for both would seem to be similar.

It reminds me a bit of the new 1960 compact cars from Ford and GM. GM built the revolutionary Corvair that sold well and the traditional full-size Chevys maintained solid sales at the same time.

The utterly conventional Ford Falcon sold even more than the Corvair, but full-size Ford sales dropped significantly.

It should look like a baby Equinox (EV), the styling is so good on that.
The stretch for the EUV should have been all in the back seat, that's shared space, you can never use trunk space for seating, but you can slide seats forward for more cargo.
it'd be nice to see Improvement on the aerodynamics.

That's fair. Wtih the point of sale credit, more dealerships are advertising the price with the tax credit built in, and are essentially trying to capture as much of the tax credit for themselves rather than passing it on to the customer. Before the IRA, the tax credit completely belonged to the customer (although some dealerships would still advertise pricing with the tax credit built in, and you had to read the fine print about eligibility).

One other nuanced difference between the pre IRA tax credit and the point of sale tax credit is that the point of sale tax credit would not be recaptured if your tax liability was less than the credit. That could be helpful for some buyers, who might otherwise not have gotten the full tax credit pre IRA.
I am not sure I would describe the difference between the point of sale tax credit under the IRA and the prior tax credit that had to be applied for when the purchaser filed his or her taxes as merely nuanced.

A point of sale credit that did not depend upon the purchaser's tax liability was designed to allow retirees and lower income people to buy an EV. That's the position I was in as a retiree when I showed up at my Chevy dealer on January too, 2024. I looked at a Bolt a year earlier, but since I couldn't take advantage of the full tax credit due to insufficient tax liability, I waited until the IRA took effect. I think a lot of people were in this position.

Yet, you own a Bolt, right?
Ya and it cost 20k new last Nov. I can kiss that thing every day as it is saving me 600 a month vs my 2015 C7 that got flooded in the cane. It was 950hp and the Bolt cost me $6 a month to charge vs $20-25a week on gas in the Vette.

Just saying if i got another EV i want it smaller or the same size as my Bolt but with 400hp at least. Not paying 46k for a bigger EV with only around 260 to 300 hp. What would be better about the Eq over my Bolt for me to pay over double for it?

Did a week of negotiations to upgrade from my '22 Bolt premier trim to an Equinox. The $3000 Bolt trade in incentive, sadly, is expired. Actually, it was replaced for the $2500 Executive level Costco rebate. I declined and kept my wonderfully running Bolt. Trade in value for Bolt was $13,000. They said by taking the $4k tax incentive when i bought it used greatly affects the trade-in value. What?? That $4k was my money bequeathed by IRS. I signed it over to the dealer like I would a check for a down payment. At my current mileage, this Bolt sits with a lot price north of $17k. I walked after those remarks.
News on $7500 rebate as follows: Legislators are currently using language in the bill to end the credit 180 days after bill goes into effect. For those looking to maybe upgrading to 2026 Bolt - likely around late Oct. this year, that is great news. The Fairfax plant in KC KS is assembling them. Close to home so may take a visit for fun.

The used EV tax credit can only be applied once per vehicle. If you took the tax credit, no future buyer can take it, which makes your particular Bolt more costly / less profitable compared to Bolts that are still eligible for the tax credit.

Put another way, the dealership can sell that Bolt on the lot for $17k, the IRS pays $4k, and the buyer only pays $13k. That's what the buyer would compare against buying your Bolt at full price. So if your Bolt costs more than $13k, the buyer will choose the other Bolt.

Yes, sadly our 2022 Bolts bought used with the $4k tax credit are just as @MichBolt said, not a good deal to the next buyer, unless the dealer gives us less in trade so they can sell them for less. We just gotta keep 'em I guess, which is the plan with mine.

I had read that production of the new Bolt which is now going to be a 2027, starts by the end of this year, which I'll bet will be more like December than October. If you can sneak over and peak in the windows let us know when the first new Bolt drives off the line. Being a 2027, I'll bet it will be 2026 by the time the first new Bolt lands at a dealer. Hopefully that bill goes into effect later than sooner.

Ralph Nader was instrumental in the demise of the Corvair, I recall.

Yes, but GM had already addressed his complaint. The revised rear suspension was great, but his book killed it anyway.
