Any new Bolts shipping with Super Cruise?

Could someone who knows anything about this help set me and my expectations straight? It's April 2022 by now.

I haven't heard much about Supercruise lately. I'm figuring that nothing is shipping with it because of the chip shortage and that it was only on a very limited trim to begin with.

Thoughts?

When I decided to take a ICE vehicle versus the a new 2022 Bolt my dealer showed me his inventory that he has ordered. He had 7 Bolts on order, but only one was loaded with everything including the Super Cruise. But again it wasn't getting built until sometime in July. I have already been without the Bolt since August I wasn't waiting any longer. The money I have invested in payments, insurance and storage is stupid. Go Figure!

If you are looking for anything on the ground, in dealer inventory you will have to go dealer to dealer to find. Most down show up in their own inventories or Chevrolet.com. But the problem is they can't be sold until their batteries are replaced! When I was checking out about my battery replacement the service manager at the dealership where I bought mine told me if I was lucky maybe December of this year! It's a 2021, so I was in the back of the bus!

I did a quick look on cars.com a couple of days ago, just to see what new Bolts were arriving. I did see at least one that claimed to have Super Cruise. Since it wasn't actually in dealer stock yet, no way to verify. I was surprised to not see an additional markup on the MSRP, but perhaps that'll be added when it arrives.

I gave my 6 speed Acura TL to my college kids after commuting with it for 14 years in Washington DC traffic when I got the Bolt. Oh man I miss that car. It was a pleasure to drive even in stop and go traffic. The Bolt is nice but for me it lacks depth.
People drive what they can handle and most are not cut out for a standard. Just because they can drive it doesn’t mean it’s something they can handle.

Over on Reddit someone was saying their dealer sales rep told them that SC would be available as an add-on, via dealer install, later this year for ~$1500 for EUV Premier models that did not have it. Add on would replace steering wheel and a few sensors. I find this hard to believe, and will believe it when I see it, but could be cool if true. It’s the only thing I didn’t get on my EUV that I really wanted. Would be nice for small road trips on interstates.

Both of my daughters qualify as millennials, but both are quite proficient at manual transmissions. They both owned and drove a number of them in the past, mostly GTIs. One now has a metal rod in her leg, and the clutch became too tiring, so she has a GTI with the DSG. The other has kids, and had to move to a minivan. At least it's a Pacifica Hybrid, so she has the enjoyment of plug-in power. They both want to go electric when it's time for a new car.

The current number bandied about for the portion of all American drivers able to drive a stick is...18%.

I imagine that number is even smaller for millennials. Your daughters, and my son, are part of a small (and effectively vanishing) group of drivers. Pretty soon, that third pedal will go the way of window cranks.

My mother insisted that I am my sisters learned to drive standard. I decided to continue that policy and bought a manual Saturn Ion for the kids. My daughter really pushed back at learning to drive it and even made the comment that if the Saturn were in an accident the replacement could be an automatic.

I told her that if the Saturn were totaled I would get a new car and they would get the 6-speed Acura. She realized that there was no winning that argument and learned to drive the Saturn. She is now the biggest advocate of manual cars compared to my three boys. She does love having that Acura at school.

Interesting note, the Bolt is my first automatic daily driver since I learned to drive. Oh and I still take the Saturn for a spin whenever I can.

I picked up a new 2022 Bolt EUV Launch Edition with Super cruise on 4-12-22 at a dealership in the Los Angeles area. It was literally the only one I could find after calling 5 different dealerships. Super cruise was a must for me.

BUT, ironically, the Super Cruise function isn't working! Feel free to peruse my many posts about the issue. Hoping to get it fixed soon. I have an appointment next week with a dealership that apparently fixed Super cruise for a member of this forum.
