Autel MaxiCharger Elite question.

I was looking at the Emporia chargers but I stumbled on the Maxicharger on Amazon for a really good price a month or two back. I got the 40A 14-50 version for $290 with a coupon.

I just hooked it up today for the first time to my dryer plug and I had a couple questions that maybe someone here can answer:

1. Can you set a timer on the charger? I have a 2018 Bolt, so I cannot manually set a charging limit, I have to estimate it based on charge time. I couldn't seem to find somewhere in the app that I could just set the charger to turn off after a certain time.

2. Is it possible to set the 40A 14-50 version of the charger to 50A if you were to hard wire it? The unit comes with the rear plug for feeding hardwires in as well as a blank for closing off the 14-50 hole. It would be great if I could just set the internal rotary switch to 50A if I got it hardwired. I know my bolt wont charge at 50A but just curious for potential future EV purchases.

The NEC states that a continuous constant load cannot exceed 80% of a circuit's rated capacity.

A 50A circuit should never be used for vehicle charging above 40A. (80% of 50 is 40.)

Likewise, the EVSE should be set to no more than 24A when using a 30A electric dryer outlet. (80% of 30 is 24.)

Im aware. I have the internal rotary switch set to 24A.

Im asking about when I actually have a dedicated circuit installed, will this unit allow me to run at 50A if I hardwired it with a 70A breaker. In other words, is the 40A 14-50 version internally the same as as the hardwired 50a unit.

It honestly doesnt matter if it does to me. Up until this point Ive driven my bolt 3000 miles in 2 months just using the 120V charger that came with the car. Even 240V/24A is plenty. I was just curious.

Here is some of where my confusion is coming from:

But then they go and say this:

And yes I understand that my Bolt can only accept 30A/7.2kw but if I have the opportunity to install this as a 50A unit I would rather do that now than regret it later down the road when I have it wired as a 40A unit.

Honestly, I think I am just going to turn the internal switch to 50A and see what it does without the car plugged in. The Autel app will tell me what the maximum charge current is set to. Unless the charger has some kind of software limit, or secondary hardware limit specific to this model, it wont know that its hardwired or not and should show 50A within the App.
