EVgo credit activation, expiration?

I got my welcome email and code for the $500 EVgo charging credit that is the alternate perk to the QMerit charging circuit installation. Great!

Now the questions start. 😁

From reading other forum posts, the credit expires after three years if not fully used? Based on that I would love to delay activation until I first need to use it; the network agreement with Chargepoint is helpful, since there are loads of Chargepoint stations regionally, but it still might be tricky to spend down.

But I also don't want the activation code to expire. Anyone have any experience with timing this process?

No issues here. In Canada we get the "credit" with FLO. I say "credit" because GM simply deposited $750 CDN into my account and it is just money in my account so no expiry applies.
I have used up about $100 in the first year so it will last a long time I suspect.

We bought an EUV in April as part of a trade/repurchase and selected the EVgo credit because we already have 2 NEMA 6-50 outlets in our garage. I reviewed both our EVgo account and the e-mails we received regarding the credits and I see nothing about a 3 year expiration. The only expiration I see is that the credit must be 'activated' within 6 months.

I bought my Bolt a month ago and haven't received an email from Chevy with a code to activate the $500 charging credit. Curious -- how long after your purchase did you receive the code/email? EVgo said to check with my dealer for an update but haven't gotten any info from them either. Thanks.....

I also had to remind the dealer, but in their defense, the whole closing process was very rushed, since we had a previously planned trip for which we had to leave immediately. I didn't want to leave the car on the lot for a week while we were gone. The link was pretty quick to arrive after I reminded the dealer, I think a day or so. The dealer thought that there was only a limited amount of time left to submit the request. Best to remind the dealer if you don't hear right away.

The GM concierge told me I had 3 years to use the credit, but my salesman swears it's 6 months. I'm trying to use mine quickly. Thankfully, I have 4 nearby Charge Point DCFCs. I don't put on a ton of miles, so it will be a push.

To help anyone wondering about the code or credit expiration, this is from the EVgo code activation FAQ.

How long do I have to redeem my authorization code?

You have 6 months (180 days) from the date your dealer reported your vehicle as delivered to redeem your authorization code.

How long do I have to use my EVgo public charging credits as part of the Chevrolet promotion?

The $500 charging credit is good for three years from the date that the EVgo authorization number is activated.
