Did the automotive journalists report on this when Bolt was introduced to US?
Why is this news now, or should we have known this already?

:)
Even as a Chinese market car, I remember it getting some press here when it was introduced, including some speculation it could be the basis for a US model.

I wonder if GM purposefully downplayed the connection due to the way a lot of Americans feel about China right now. Sad if that’s true.

According to another video I saw, they are in the same spot on the bumper.
Look closer. The tailgate is split before the edge lights end. The entire width of the light are both tail light and brake light. The tailgate (a moving panel) is separated from the outer portion of the brake light making it DOT acceptable. The red sections on the bumper are reflectors since LED lights cannot reflect and still produce light at this time. I expect that engineers will overcome that issue soon enough. Maybe reflective surrounds of the LED light housing.

Nope, same lighting set up as on our EUVs. Top bar is just a marker light.
The Buick does get “automatic parallel parking” though.

I stand corrected. In a different shown ad the brake lights were in the entire led cross bar in the tailgate and on the rear fenders. Or maybe I'm just getting old enough to see only what I want to think I see. Thanks for the clarification. I also thought I saw in the same ad that range was 310 miles on a full (100%) charge. Now I see it as having only a 55 Kwh battery. o_O

You did see 310 but you missed that it is kms, not miles.

Anyone recall the speculative post made here when the EUV first came out, and we were all disappointed that the extra length went to rear seat leg room over more cargo space? The post made the point that the EUV was designed for the Chinese market, which values rear leg room as it is a status symbol to be driven around.

This news kinda validates that speculation.

Yep, and that would explain why GM bothered itself with stretching the Bolt mid-cycle and changing the sheet metal - enough to incur the costs and the PITA of redesigning the car, but not enough to make much difference in the usable interior volume. Made it look bland, and lose 20 miles of range .... nice job :)

I shouldn't be complaining, the 3" in the wheelbase does make the car a tad less skittish.

Actually, the ad posted a range of 500 kms then in parenthesis it said (310 miles) Not looking for a war just telling what I saw in a previous ad for the Buick. 310 kms would equate to only about 192.5 miles. Perhaps whoever did the translation from Chinese to English made an error. How bout we just agree that we read different information and most of what you viewed was correct and what I saw was a misrepresentation of known facts. ;)
