They sure bombard you with emails trying to get you to sign up for the extra 2 free months! Just waiting to see what happens on my 31st day. Does the Onstar button stop working? I have 3 years of RA and 8 years of connectivity, so I'm guessing nothing will change.
I have not received a single e-mail or other correspondence from OnStar after my cancellation, but I can't say the same for SiriusXM!

I canceled my OnStar subscription the day I sold my Bolt EV. All was done seamlessly and without a problem, it took me 3 minutes of chat with the representative on the other side of the Blue button. Not sure why, my experience with the onStar support was always good. Maybe because for Canada the OnStar support is in US, while for US the support is outsourced in India. Or maybe the Canadians are more easy going and polite... who knows ? Before asking, yeah, I was talking in English with the support, although I was offered to talk to a person in French. They don't speak French in India, so maybe this is why Canada receives a better treatment.

Did they charge you $15 for internet (if had extended the plan with internet data plan)?
If they did, did they refund you upon cancellation?
No charges for anything. Just needed a cc number to grant the extended free trial period.

Agreed....Sirius has been a royal pain both with email and with phone calls.

I should have read the OnStar advice in this group before taking delivery of my new car a couple of weeks ago. I fell for the trap and gave them my credit card. I was told by the OnStar rep that I get 3 months "free" of OnStar and 1 month free of hot-spot data.

Turns out just the 1 month OnStar was free, and the extra two months are only "free" if I was automatically enroll in a yearly plan starting month 2.

OnStar's online information categorically states that the ONLY way to cancel a subscription is by pressing the blue button in the vehicle or by speaking to a rep, which is unbelievable in this internet age. Turns out that this statement posted all over their website is a LIE. You can indeed cancel your subscription online using the MyChevrolet app.

You do so by clicking on the circle at the top left of the screen (iOS app) and then selecting Plans and Services. If you scroll right down near the bottom you will see a link: "Cancel your OnStar or Chevrolet Connected Services". I preferred to cancel online vs. speaking to a thug or imbecile on the phone, as was I was concerned about loosing my free Chevy Connected Services, as some folks have experienced when canceling. Canceling through the app gives you the option of canceling "Up Next" subscriptions.

Before canceling, I drilled down into the app to find details of my subscription, which should have been given to me when signing on.

I was surprised to see that EV Access and Connected Access is free for 8 years, though Remote Access is only for 3 years. Getting answers as to what exactly these 3 plans give you is convoluted, but it looks like the EV Access is the one I'm most interested in.

Here are the details I got from the app (I signed on Sep 2, 2023):

OnStar Premium
Expires on October 1, 2023
(this is the free part)
OnStar Preferred Plus WiFi
Automatically switchedsto this plan one tier below Premium after a month unless I cancel with 30 days.
Monthly payments start December 2, 2023 ($29.99)

Chevrolet Data Trial 1 Month/ Unlimited

Ends on October 1, 2023 or when all data is used
Chevrolet Unlimited Monthly Data
Monthly payments start October 2, 2023 ($25.00)

Remote Access

Active through September 1, 2026 ($15/month after that)

Complimentary Coverage
EV Access
and Connected Access is included with your vehicle purchase and active through September 1, 2031
So I know what remote access is -remotely start the car via the app. Right?, but what is EV Access and Connected Access ?

They’ve taken one feature and split it into three different parts so they can charge separately if they want.

Remote Access
With the myChevrolet mobile app, you can start your vehicle, check tire pressure and diagnostic information, or even save and set radio station favorites - all from your smartphone.

EV Access
The EV Access Plan gives you the features you need to help keep your electric vehicle running smoothly. Get services like Charge Status, Energy Assist Notifications and more.

Connected Access
Get access to standard connectivity for your vehicle - including Vehicle Diagnostics, Dealer Maintenance Notifications, and Smart Driver.

Click on them in the app, will tell you. Only thing about Remote Access that's confusing is Nav.
I believe the "Nav" is the old-style OnStar type where you ask OnStar for directions and they send it to your car.

So the first is good for 3 years, and the last 2 are good for 8 years (or more), on 2023's from what I can tell. I guess I'll see what I lose in 4 days, hopefully their emails.

OK, I get it -thanks. I'm just a few months into ownership of a 2023 EUV. The remote start is nice, but not at $15/month, or I'll just use the Key FOB to remote start. The only remote access I really want to keep is information on SOC and get notifications when charge is complete or interrupted. If I understand you correctly, that access would continue beyond 3years -or maybe for 8yrs. I've never seen anything mentioned about the 8years for EV and Connected access, is that documented somewhere? -thanks again for clearing this up.
