Then it was making sounds kind of like boiling coolant in traction battery under the car. I caught some video with the sounds. That was yesterday, parked it at safe distance from everything. This morning checked on it and still making the sounds.
Fascinating. This is the second one I know of making the gurgling sounds. I am going to guess they have the coolant circulating through the pack. Next time it is making the sound, open the hood, and look at the battery coolant loop reservoir. Do you see any coolant movement? Put your hand on the reservoir. Do you feel any vibration?. The fist sized pump is about a foot below the reservoir. If it is running you should be able to detect one or more of these signs.

That makes sense, I will check if it does it again. Right now it is not making the noise.

How about a thread tracking error detections by the new diagnostic software, resulting in pack replacement?

Post if your battery is flagged by the new diagnostic software.

Here's mine:
Date: 6/14/23
Diagnostic Code: U3636
Miles driven before detection: 366
How long to get new pack: 2 weeks
Car Build Date: 04/21
Notes: This was a replacement pack. Previous pack had no issues.
I hope this thread is the proper one for my question which is, are there any actions which we can engage in that will fully test the software ie. change to 'full' (80%) regularly, let the car sit with full charge for an extended period of time, drive the car hard, bring the battery to a low state of charge etc.?
TIA

With all the 2020+ Bolts getting the U36-- codes, has anyone else thought of a conspiracy theory where GM eventually replaces all 2020+ batteries but doesn't have to provide new battery warranties?

Yep I checked at this morning it's making the gurgling sound and it's definitely running the coolant system. And I should note that it's loud I've never heard the sound all the years that I've owned the car and driven over 50,000 miles. It sounds to me more like a crinkling sound. I can hear it when I stop at stop signs.

I took video to capture the strange sounds mine was making in case it fireballed. This was after I got the error code and drove it two blocks home with no AC and reduced propulsion power.

Damnedest thing I have ever heard coming from a battery pack. Almost like shift linkage. Doesn't sound like when the battery heater, and its pump, are running.

#1 Is the car plugged in ?
#2 What is the outside air temps ?
#3 Is the battery coolant loop full ?
#4 Is the HV battery conditioning info showing a % data on the Energy screen display ?

Hey, add me to the U3636 party! I bought the car (2020 LT) used with 24975 miles 5 weeks ago.

Date: 9/22/23
Diagnostic Code: U3636
Miles driven before detection: 975
Car Build Date: 01/20
I believe it is the original battery. I've charged exclusively on a 12a EVSE except for the first day I bought it. I went to an EVGo DCFC and charged for about 30 min to make sure it worked.
UPDATE: Just got the car back. I saw the fault report when I picked up the car. It was a code "U3636 Section 9". They flashed new software.

The service advisor said this did NOT reset the 6000mi countdown to 100% charge.

#1 Is the car plugged in ?

it wasn't plugged in.

#2 What is the outside air temps ?
Maybe low 90's that day.

#3 Is the battery coolant loop full ?

all the coolant bottles under the hood were full.

#4 Is the HV battery conditioning info showing a % data on the Energy screen display ?

I don't think my '20 model has that screen.

It sat for a week in the holding yard while waiting on the battery. It showed up and was installed same day. Instead of charging over night it just sat outside. Then it was on the charger the next day. Charged to 90% and went on a 5 mile test drive around the block. Now it's sitting in the holding yard. Why would it possibly need to sit there over night? What could they possibly be waiting on or are going to do tomorrow?

And yes I drove by and saw where it's parked:

Ok, here is another:

2020 Bolt LT that I bought new
Diagnostic software installed Aug 29th, mileage 48708
Code U362A detected September 23rd at mileage 50894
Service scheduled Sept 26th so I will keep everyone updated.

NOTES:
I commute 140 miles per day, charge every week night
Car threw code first thing in morning after an overnight charge to 80%

I don't read the forum much so I scheduled service and the guy said no problem to keep driving it with reduced propulsion. So I took it out to test what reduced meant and noticed no AC. Then looked at forum and realized battery is likely not cooling. So I came home and then observed it would not charge back up to 80% as others stated. Then it was making sounds kind of like boiling coolant in traction battery under the car. I caught some video with the sounds. That was yesterday, parked it at safe distance from everything. This morning checked on it and still making the sounds. I had the car started today while calling onstar, and no the sounds are gone. But they were loud enough to hear in the car while talking to onstar. Hard to tell if it was gurgling or like plastic heated and making noises. If I drive the car to the dealer on Tuesday it is 35 mile trip.

Also, Dealer is no help for rental or loaner as others have stated. And onstar said tow bill would be on me even though I described the sounds it was/is making. Typical.
Called the dealer today. They said they ordered a battery but not sure how long it will take to get because of the strikes. And they said its not safe to drive so I'll check on a rental or loaner next. Looks like I'm getting a new battery.

Wrong! Call the Concierge number. This is a fire recall. GM paid for our tow, our rental, and our gas...100%. It took them months, and they sent three separate checks by regular mail to drag it out, but they did eventually pay. Keep all your receipts!!

Got U3636 code on 9/21. EV Concierge helped me figure out where to have it towed (covered by GM Roadside); picked it up today, new battery in place, charged to 100%. In theory, GM will be reimbursing me for the rental car we got for the week it was in the shop.

That was quick! I thought my time was pretty short, but it was 2 weeks.

Here's mine.
2020 Bolt Premium, purchased new
Date: 10/6/23
Diagnostic Code: Don't know yet
Software patch installed: Sept 27, 14396 m
Miles driven before detection: 140

In July I got the notice for the diagnostic software update. Took it in and the service guy said: Nope, you're actually getting a new battery, 6 week wait. Checked back after 7 weeks: Nope, that was wrong info, you're getting the software update. Got the update. Based on what I've seen here, hopefully I got the latest updated patch?

Two weeks later, today, got the warning light and "propulsion power reduced" message. NO A/C IN TUCSON IS UNACCEPTABLE! By the time I could get anyone at the dealer to answer the phone, it was too late to take it in. Scheduled for 8am Monday to diagnose the problem.

I'll let you know how it goes.
