Wireless charging, much to be desired...

- Why have wireless charging when you do not have wireless AA/Carplay? If you want to use AA/Carplay, what use is the wireless charger?

- Why have wireless charging in a slot that severely limits the compatible phones... no large screen, no phone cases...

... back to the drawing board...

Yeah definitely an over site on Chevy's part to have wireless charging yet we need to plug in our iphones to use carplay. It probably wouldn't be an issue if the car had navigation built in, but if you use navigation and want to see a map...well you get the point. Apparently the 2017 premiers (like i have) do not wireless charge iphones.
According to reddit, ( ) you have to replace the module with one from a 2018+ to have Qi charging.
I always plug my phone in for carplay so its not that much of an issue, but its annoying when someone gets in the car and they are trying to wireless charge but it doesn't work. I have to explain that it has wireless but it doesnt work for most phones.
I hope Chevy updates the refreshed Bolt to have wireless charging and wireless carplay.

The idea of inserting a phone into a slot to wirelessly charge is flawed in other ways as well. Notably, the charging method is much more lossy and heats up the phone faster. There's no air vent or fan to cool the phone in the slot, and I've had my iPhone get ridiculously hot while I left it in the slot to recharge.

Maybe we will be able wireless charge via the induction wheels! :0
