Thank you, Msquared. I've been calling around for pricing on these near me. The tire shop near my old office where I took my cars for 20 years recommended the Kumho ES TA51A which is $549 out the door (excl taxes) as opposed to the Kumho PA51 which is $499 out the door. The $50 is minimal if the ES makes the tire more comfortable and better to drive. But all models from a manufacturer are not equal, so I'd appreciate your thoughts.
Having these installed on my 22 EUV right now. I'll let you know how it goes. Currently on General AS-05 which have done well over 50,000 miles.

I have 107,000 miles on my car. I did get 57k out of OEM tires, but I just got a screw in one of my tires and I'm not comfortable with getting it repaired at the tread depth that was remaining and decided to get new tires.

Thanks. I totally agree about the traction. Overall I really like the ElectricDrive2s and won't buy the OEMs again. These are stout tires too, with two steel belts and a two ply sidewall. The tread width is also greater than many tires in this size. The ElectricDrive tires can handle the weight of an EV nicely. Also they have nice rim protection.

I don't know how my V2 is different from your V1, probably just little tweaks. I never saw what the foam liner looks like. I brought in my Cruze Eco wheels to Discount Tire and bought the tires from them. It wasn't quite time to take the snows off yet, I but wanted to take advantage of an expiring discount on the tires.
I like the ElectricDrive2s on my EUV, mounted back in February, but recently started having a vibration at 67mph (which progressively worsened) that a couple trips to get re-balanced never resolved.

Ultimately they unmounted the tires from the rims and found one of them suffered foam delamination. The tech said he found the foam "rolled up" against one side of the tire. Americas Tire ordered a replacement which was just installed today. Here's what the tech pulled out of the original tire:

One new EV tire claims they used computer model and don't need foam.
Imagine if they had used the foam along with the computer model. It could have been the first "noiseless" tire.

I've read that a few models with the foam do or can do that. I don't know why it can happen. Possibly oil in shop air lines??

They really don’t need the foam anyway. Until the replacement tire arrived, I just drove around on the old one sans foam. No issues, and I didn’t notice any noise increase. Apparently many people just opt to remove the foam and keep the tires. Americas Tire offered that option as well.

With 3/4 of your tires still having the foam, it's not very surprising that you didn't notice the difference. It might have taken a dB meter and a controlled test.

If the foam makes zero difference I guess it's all marketing then. I'm glad I only paid $175/tire at Discount Tire which was competitive with comparable tires not containing foam.

I drive on many surfaces. A tire would have to be magical to be quiet on them all.

I had flat in Tesla and kid said they had hard time finding. Think they took a lot of all foam in process. I can't tell difference but I do have hearing loss.

The last few days at 50+ I'm noticing vibrations with my ElectricDrive 2's. It's actually pretty bad. I'll bet it's the same problem with at least one tire. Can we trust it won't keep happening? I got mine at Discount Tire which is the same company, and will take the car in.

Unfortunately, there's no guarantee the problem won't repeat. But at least there's history that the problem is real, and they should check for it.

A wheel weight might have come off. Have it checked out.

I've got an appointment at Discount Tire for Saturday July 5th, and will post what they find out. Having never experienced a wheel weight coming off on recently mounted wheels before, my money is with a foam liner coming loose and bunching up. Googling it up this unfortunately is a frequent issue, and it just happened to @sac2dude .

Or maybe a foam liner delaminated in one tire, and on a different wheel a weight came off, all at the same time. :ROFLMAO:

The foam liner came completely loose on the left front tire. I'm at Discount Tire now, and they are going to check the other three. I was given the option of just having one tire without the liner, but they are a reason I bought these tires.

Edit: It was just the one tire. I'll be getting a new tire, and will drive on the "bad" one with the foam liner removed for a few days. Although one tire without a foam liner probably wouldn't make a noticeable noise difference, Goodyear needs to get the message that quality control needs to improve on these ElectricDrive2s. DT will be sending the tire back to Goodyear.

When the ElectricDrive 2 liner fails, does the warranty offer a totally free replacement, or a pro-rated replacement?
Discount Tire assured me I won't have to pay anything. However the tires are quite new with maybe only 1,000 miles on them. I couldn't say the actual miles because I purchased them and had them mounted in February but didn't install them until late April when I removed the snow tires. Unfortunately I didn't note the mileage at that time.

I'm not thrilled about this going forward because if it happens again, and with more miles and time, I will likely have to pay something. OTOH, I really like these tires but it just became harder for me to recommend them.

Exactly the same as mine. Left front delamination, the only tire exhibiting the issue. drove around without the liner for a few days until the replacement arrived. Very interesting.

I gotta believe it's a coincidence that it was the left front with both of us. If it happens again to both of us and it's the left front, then something is going on.

The Discount Tire guy that checked me in was confident a foam liner coming loose was highly unlikely when I told him of my suspicion. He talked about how well affixed they are. Then when the tech came back with the news, he bad mouthed the liners saying they make no difference and I should just live without it on the one tire. I told him if they make no difference, Goodyear shouldn't have installed them. At any rate since I paid for the liners I expect all four, and Goodyear shouldn't be left off the hook for this failure.

Exactly why I posted the pic of the Americas Tire guy holding the foam. 🙂 Saying something happened carries more weight if you have a photo (or at least before AI generated photos came along).

Good point! I'm going to ask to see the tire and foam liner they are sending back to Goodyear. Had we both accepted keeping the original tire sans liner, Goodyear wouldn't pay a price for their quality control failure. It would be more likely to just keep happening to others. And if Goodyear can't figure out how to keep these liners from coming loose, they should abandon the whole idea.

Edit: Here it is. Only a little bit of the foam is still sticking to the tire.
