My issue is I try to activate Tesla supercharging from the my Chevy app and I get an error every time saying I need to call the EV concierge. I have tried to delete and reinstall the app, I've tried to download the my GMC app and the same thing happens. I've tried to put my VIN into links for the adapter and it says my car is not compatible. Should I just skip all of this, buy a Lectron adapter and go through the Tesla app?
I would probably call the EV Concierge. There is generally no wait, they are helpful. They will likely tell you the problem and help make an appointment at a dealer to get fixed

Here's my take on all this:

Onstar is a total piece of garbage! They have the audacity of wanting a monthly subscription fee for inferior service. What you just posted is just one more example of their uselessness. I wouldn't do business with them under any circumstances.

With respect to the adapters, all I can say is this: Many have been manufactured, sold, and tested over and over again. You can bet the house that if just ONE person's car had their batteries fried because of a defective adapter, we're talking a major lawsuit. This not to even mention the bad publicity that would have circulated all over the internet. Another thing: aren't our Bolts very protected against some sort of major power surge or something else that would cook the batteries?

Honestly, I wouldn't hesistate to use a 3rd party adapter made by a reputable company.
 
I just tried to order the adapter with the link > OEM Supercharger Adapter on my mobile phone. I couldn’t get thru it, likely all my ineptness. But when l called my Chevy dealer parts department they told me part no.
 
Part no. 85806539 (shown in the link) was discontinued and that the new part no. 84966858 was $593, up from $225 in the link. Anyone have info about this?
The #85806539 and the $225 price is still correct. I ordered the adapter last Thursday.

Sorry, I misunderstood the question. Yes you can use the Tesla app. You just need to set up an account to do the payment. I don’t know about the third-party adapters. My understanding is they will probably work, but it will void the warranty on the battery. Hope this helps.
Just using a third party adapter will not void the warranty, only if it causes issues with your car it may not be covered for the damaged component only.

You have not selected you have purchased the adapter in the my chevrolet app. If it does not show this in the app you have not completed the setup.

I have just placed the order an hour ago. It was PN #85806539, still at $225 before shipping. Was not able to apply the the code for free ship "NACSSHIP" though.

I called the concierge and they said they would have to escalate it. I've called OnStar numerous times only to have them "escalate" the issue every time, and I never hear back. I'm not holding out any hope this time, but I hope to be surprised
 
My experience with the Tesla software update needed for my 2019 Bolt.
I received the email from Chevrolet on Sept 18th indicating that my 2019 Bolt needed a software update to charge at Telsa Superchargers.
I called my local dealer that had done my battery recall replacement. So, they knew my VIN.
When they checked my VIN for any needed updates/recalls/etc. they said that there's nothing showing to be done. I told them I got an email from Chevy saying I needed an update to charge on Superchargers. They didn't know anything about it.
So later that day I tried two different Supercharger ports -- both attempts failed with the error "Vehicle not found". This was using the Tesla app. So, I definitely had an issue.
Since the dealer obviously didn't know what to look for, I called the GM EV Concierge and asked what the Service bulletin number was. I was given the number: 24-NA-200 (which was issued that week.)
I asked the person why the dealer didn't see this according to my VIN. She indicated the update was not tied to any VIN's.
When I called my dealer again, they again told me that my VIN doesn't need anything. When I told them to look for 24-NA-200, they said OK, we can do that.
Their next available appointment is in November! After thinking about it, I looked for and called another dealer (75 miles away) - they could get me in on Wednesday (today).
This other dealer actually has a Supercharger location just across the street, so I tried my Bolt there before I took it in. (It failed there also).
After the free update 24-NA-200 was applied, I went back to the same Supercharger, and it worked.

Other info:
I have the Lectron adapter. Probably no reason to buy the "approved" adapter. The Bolt is never going to stress its capabilities.
If you received the email from Chevy, you probably need the update. You will likely need to inform the service writer of the 24-NA-200 service bulletin.
If you didn't get the email, I suppose there's a chance that Chevy will also send a letter in the mail.
If you try the Supercharger and get "Vehicle not found" - you should get the update.
I don't know if the MyChevy app will provide the same error text.
I had used a couple of Superchargers locations that had the Magic dock earlier last year - worked fine. Earlier this year I tried one of the same locations and had gotten the "Vehicle not found" error. Didn't know why, but I was at a very low state of charge and thought that might have been why.

Thanks for your post, but there's either something missing or I didn't get it.

Say I was going on a road trip and wanted to be able to use Telsa's supercharging network. Do I have to sign up or something? If so, can this be done on the Tesla app? Is there some sort of monthly fee? When arriving at a supercharger, do I just plug the car in (using the appropriate adapter) or do I have to use the app?

And speaking of adapters - you mentioned 3rd party adapters made my Lectron and others. What happens if I try to use one? Will it work? Will Tesla's charger even accept it?

Also - and just to be clear - I do NOT have to use the My Chevrolet app, correct? Tesla's app will do it all, right? I'm not about to pay Onstar a monthly subscription fee for the pathetic service they provide.

Please let me know and pardon my ignorance.
Using either app requires an account to pay, so yes. No fee unless you pay for the optional membership to get a discounted kWh rate.

3rd party adapters work fine, otherwise I would have said something.

I'm fairly certain I was clear the Tesla app was an alternative to the myChevrolet app if you didn't want to use it. I personally use the Tesla app myself.

My understanding is they will probably work, but it will void the warranty on the battery. Hope this helps.
They do work and it is incorrect to state that simply using them voids any warranty.

You're trying to activate it without an adapter? That's your problem.

This is also a Bolt forum... Are you driving Bolt EV or some other vehicle? There should be no reason for the VIN to be incompatible on the Chevy Accessories order page unless you're mistyping it.

Unfortunately I can't complete setup since it keeps saying unable to activate, and I have to call the EV concierge. I called the concierge and they said they have to escalate the situation.

Probably because you have not used the app to order an adapter it assumes you do not have one, you will have to use the Tesla app then.
