Great info in this thread. One thing I did not see is COLOR reference. I don't pick up my Bolt until next week but how do I find out if the color of this cover (I assume there is only one option) matches my interior? I have a 2020 Slate Gray LT. Can anyone assist? Thank you!

I use the cargo space in a similar fashion storing emergency gear and junk I want to have "just in case" below the flat floor.

Yesterday I made my first full Costco run and loaded the flat floor with two full cases of soft drinks, a 40 pound bag of dog food, a case of canned cat food, and other odds and ends. No problem. The floor now seems more sturdy to me than its light weight might indicate.

BTW, since the stuff in the back blocked my direct rear view, I found that the TV camera rear view mirror function which came with the Premier Edition really useful for the first time! I've had trouble adapting to that feature.
so, is the false floor an option you chose, and paid the 100 extra?

The false floor is standard on the Premier trim. Don't recall if it's an option on the LT. Several forum members have bought the kit separately and installed themselves. One forum member even 3D printed the required brackets and made their own false floor.

I heard that some LT's have it as an option for an extra 100 bucks...I'm looking for a used Bolt, so I guess some might have the floor, some not. Hard to tell online...

Not many LT's will have the false floor. Unless they bought it after the fact (and i doubt too many did for $150). I don't recall it being an option at purchase unless one was familiar with it and asked for it through their dealer.

I'm going back and forth in my mind whether to get one or not for my LT. I have chevy bucks to use (or whatever they're called). I'm just not sure i want to lose the depth of the cargo area by adding the floor; But I like the idea of having a flat/level storage space when the seats are down in case i need to haul something bigger.

What are Chevy Bucks? I would use it for the false floor, because I think you can easily remove it if it's installed right. I would want it to cover some valuable items in the back, and also if I'm going to try car camping it would create a relatively flat surface for sleeping with an air mattress on top of it and back seats folded down.

the credits/points chevy gives (GM Rewards). We got 20,000 points when we bought our Bolt, plus a few more for signing up for the app, website, surveys, etc...

20,000 points is $100 credit towards merchandise and such.
Problem is, you have to use them at a dealer, cant just apply them online. That usually means paying retail; unless you enjoy haggling and dealing with sales people.

But I've heard the option is 100 dollars from Chevy, so maybe it would be covered by your chevy bucks. I know what you mean about the dealers though. Did you buy a 2020? How much was it? I am considering buying one because there are incredible mark downs....they are going up recently though...I'll probably get a 2017 in the end.

Never seen it as a normal LT option at purchase.
$170 accessory according to the chevrolet website.

edit:
I stand corrected!

Anybody know if the false cargo floor can be added after sale by the dealer? There seems to be the special brackets that hold the floor up that need to be added and I'm not sure how hard this is to do.

I have started more seriously shopping for a Bolt as I am more afraid that Trump and the new folks in power are going to kill the tax credit. As of now it really is a gamble because the congress could potentially kill the credit and make it retro active. My hope is, they won't kill it, or at least honor all those that already applied for it in this year. My feeling is, the sooner I get my application in, the more likely I am to get it, however it's not ever going to be guaranteed.

So back to the cargo floor... I have searched the local inventory and there is a lot to choose from, but it seems there are three or four option combos that all dealers seem to stock. Nobody has exactly what I want. What I want is-

  • LT trim
  • Comfort and Convenience Package
  • Orange Burst color
  • DC Fast Charger
  • False Cargo Floor
  • Sill Plates
Fremont Chevrolet has a big number of Bolts and is offering $1500 off MSRP on them, but the closest they can come is everything I want minus the False Cargo Floor and the Sill Plates. It seems they won't offer the $1500 off on a custom order. The Sill Plates I know are no big deal to add later, but the false floor I don't know. Of course the sales person will tell me whatever I want to hear to make the sale, but I'd rather know for sure.

Anybody know?
I just fabricated a cargo floor for the Bolt I just purchased. Removed the rear seat to do it but I think it looks good and it's solid. I replaced a Chevy HHR that we always had the back seats down on for our dog. Putting the seats down on the Bolt doesn't do the trick so I built this.

How's this look to you? Removed the rear seat and fabricated it out of plywood and some commercial carpet. It's now a dog friendly vehicle!

Rodney C, This looks great. I may look at doing the same thing as I rarely have need for the rear seats. Could you provide more details regarding what you did? Also, did you loose much capacity by raising the floor enough to work around the seat bracket and provide for a flat surface? I was thinking of leaving hump in the floor in order to maximize available cargo space. Finally, I think the OP may have been asking about the false floor the come with the Premier model but not the LT version behind the rear seats. Thanks again for your posing and for the pictures.

I went to the local Lowe’s store and had them cut a piece of 5/8” plywood to a width of 38 5/8” and 53” long. Keep the scraps to make the “wings”. I then bent down the child seat tethers enough to allow the floor to sit on the plastic receivers for the anchors at the front of the rear seat bottom and on a flat mount with (2) bolts for the bracket that seat backs anchor to where they split and pivot at the bottom. I drilled the plywood and slightly countersunk the bolts that formerly that held that bracket. You can see them in the picture. They’re about half way back to the left of center. This held the floor solidly in place. I then slid (2) 48” 2X4's (just have Lowe’s or whoever cut an 8’ 2x4 in two 4’ sections for you) under the plywood. One of these 2x4’s is flush with the front of the floor. The other 2x4 is 11” behind it and parallel with it. You'll see them in the pictures. I used wood screws through the plywood floor into the 2x4's to anchor them. These 2x4's provided a platform for the "wings" I had to custom cut to close out the area between the plywood floor and the door trim. It would have been nice to cut this all as one piece but there wouldn't have been a way to get it into the vehicle. In the very rear I used the factory carpeted trim as a template to cut the arch in the plywood floor at the very rear. Under the back 18" of floor I just folded up some old blankets to fill the gap between the bottom of the plywood floor and the vehicle body floor. It was about a 6" gap. The blankets provided support. If you wanted to make a totally firm support it wouldn’t be that hard to fashion some kind of solid support at the very rear of the floor.

I just ordered Cargo Liner with Integral Storage in Dark Galvanized Cool from GM; they've allowed you to use your GM Rewards points towards the purchase of these accessories. My price was $170, and I was able to get $85 off by spending 17,000 of my points.
