Has anyone tried putting spacers on their Bolt or played with the offset to get the wheels outward more? Factory wheels sit too much inside the well, imho.

You can go out a little maybe 1/4"to 1/2" with the 1/4" you won't need to mess with lug nuts, at 1/2" then you will not have much bite on the lug nut threads.

If you can find wheels that have more offset you won't need to play with spacers, when I was installing my snow tires I saw how close the top of my skinny snow tires barely had 1/2" of room.

If you go out too far then you have to change to longer lugs to get the proper bite in the lug nuts, you can't go out too far, then you will encounter wheel bearing problems

I would love to change my wheels, I like to stay with stock GM wheels, I have a set of Buick Encore early wheels that are 18" I may go with those.

I have seen some nice looking 18" Cruze 5 spoke wheels that I would like to have, if I can buy them at a decent price.

Got a pretty good deal (IMHO) on the Eco wheels from a Junk yard. $70 per wheel. two came with center caps and TPMS, two without.
I'll pick up caps & TPMS for the other two from ebay.

Re: winter tires, any concerns for these:

Trying to keep price under $500 but don't want to risk safety or end up with a crappy product.
Only negative I've heard on these is more road noise than others...

The only thing that can really affect road noise are tires. That includes tire profile - going to a lower profile tire would make for a stiffer tire (at the same tire pressure) and would transmit more road noise. But pretty much 100% of NVH (noise/vibration/harshness) is going to be the tire.

Since the Cruze Eco wheels are 17" like the OEM Bolt wheels, there isn't a tire profile difference either. Just make sure to activate/transfer the TPMS from the old tires/wheels to the new.

Best,
Tal

Decided to go with Michellin X-ice XI3. Blew out my budget but the more I read about safety/reliability with non-Michellin/Bridgestone/other higher end tires, the more I talked myself into the $164/per price @ Discount Tire. They'll do free install and swap my summer tires/winter tires every year for no charge.

I plan to drive the car for years...

^ good choice!

I had the X-Ice winter tires on my Plug-in-Prius.... we actually preferred to drive that car with the X-Ice tires over our Ford Expedition and Honda CRV in moderate snow conditions. In addition to no-drama starts and turns... braking on packed snow was excellent!

I'm currently on a road trip in the Canadian Rockies where the first big snowfall of the season has left some of the roads with slushy and icy sections. I'm very happy with my X-Ice XI3 tires.

I'm planning on getting some winter tires on wheels that I can easily take off. I'm curious if anyone has experience with 215/60/r16 tires if they will clear the strut? I see a number of those for sale as Cruze take offs, especially out my way. I think they are going to be close to hitting the strut. Thoughts?

I currently have some Empi wheels for sale on EV-MODS. I am working with 3 wheel mfg on high performance light weight wheels in for our Bolts 5x105. Also available if you email or pm me andy at ev-mods. are wheel adapters. I am a former owner of a Ford Focus with 5x108 Wheels. I am working with a company that can make +20mm wheel adapters to convert our 5x105 to almost any other bolt pattern. I can sell the set for $250 but it takes about a month from order date to fulfill since they are custom made. I just got mine and will be posting up my Racing Bolt (that I also daily drive 100mi a day). I will also have lowering springs specific to our Bolt in the coming month from a well-known performance spring manufacture.

A few facts about wheel adapters:
I have run them in road racing on a 750hp 4,000 lb Mustang GT without any issues.
Wheel Adapters aka bolt on wheel spacers are used in many forms of professional racing including dirt track racing.
No one can or will tell you they are 100% safe and will never fail vs not running them; but they have been 100% solid in my experiences.

Okay, so I usually like to get new wheels with my cars. I am not a HUGE fan of OEM wheels. I know... weight and LRR tires are a thing for EVs, but for now, these are for more of a cosmetic look for me.

I am most likely going to go with 17x7 or 7.5 so I can fit wider (225 or 235 depending) tires and a little more offset so that the tires sit more flush with the sides....

These are my top choices so far... the weight is about 20-21#s depending on which sites... some say 24#. But even with the tire, they are still about the same or just a hair or so under OEM.

1 I like the Konigs as they look good with the car with the polished and gloss mix.

2 The MR is more of a sporty look with the red trim that really pops for me with the contrast. I might get some vinyl or plasti dip to get the bowtie and Bolt EV to match the red.

Thoughts?

What color is your Bolt?

Here's the specs in case you don't already have them:
17 x 6.5" factory rim
ET44 (44mm offset)
56.6mm center bore
Bolt pattern: 5x105 (same as the Cruze and Sonic)
Weight: 22lbs
Lug thread: M12x1.5

Slate grey. I was just happy to find a configurator with a slate looking grey for the Bolt. I do like the red..

Those will be 17x7 +40, center is larger so I will use an adapter.

Here is a red one with those Motegi wheels. I like how it sits flush to the wheel well. The tires are the stock 215s. And they look good, not stretched all like I thought they might be. But then again, only going from 6.5 to 7" width.

Don't really think the hub adapter is necessary, once you cinch and torque the lug nuts down (to 100 ft/lbs) the wheels become lug-centric vs. hub-centric anyway. I have the hub adapters on my winter wheels... I think they really only make initial fitment on the rotor/hub easier.
